Stress & the Social Determinants of Health

Americans are among the most stressed people in the world.  According to a recent Gallup survey, 55% of adults experienced stress during “a lot of the day”.  Lower income Americans tended to report more stress.

In 2016, Dr. Tom Boyce, with the UCSF Department of Pediatrics commented, “Socioeconomic status is the most powerful predictor of disease, disorder, injury and mortality we have”.     (Link to Article)

Even as the economy roared, more Americans were stressed, angry, and worried than they have been at most points during the past decade.
